JavaRa is a small open source application that will check if your computer has the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE). If the version you have installed has been superseded by a newer version the program will download and install this newer version for you, by running Java’s update program. It then allows you to remove all possible older versions of this program. This will ensure that the security of your computer is enhanced and extra space on your hard disk is created.

Rockstar has released the first patch for GTA IV.
Start your game and connect to LIVE to trigger the download, or use the direct link below. The patch is 32 MB and contains a lot of bug fixes including the following:
- A fix to the crash after legal screen that some German customers were reporting.
- Numerous improvements to the video editor: Smarter naming of videos, improved rendering quality, better fx during replays.
- Fix to bowling while using certain sensitive mice.
- Fix for ATI 1900 shadows.
- Overall savings to memory.
- Graphic improvements to particle systems and mirrors.
- Multiplayer character settings are preserved.
- Support for DirectInput controllers.
Rockstar have stated that they are “going to keep supporting GTA IV PC for a long time” and that we can “expect additional fixes/improvements in the future.”

On Thursday Sony released the long awaited public beta for Home, there new community based service for the PlayStation Network.
With Home you will be able to create your own virtual character, and own a virtual apartment, which you can customize in many different ways.
When in Home you will be able to chat and interact (such as dance, point, wave and so on) with tons of other people from all around the world, as well as play mini games such as bowling, pool and arcade games. Further more Sony has made sure there are lots of big screens all around the virtual Home world, for you and your friends to watch movie and game trailers.
Home also features a friends list, so you can keep track of all your friends at all times, or invite them to clubs.
While you character and apartment is customizable, you start out with limited content, and then you have to purchase additional items if you want to customize them any further. Of course Sony made sure to add a “Mall” to Home so you can visit different stores from where you can purchase additional content.
I took the US version of Home for a spin today to see what it was really like, and if the 2 years of development had payed off.
As of Thursday 11 December 2008 Home will automatically be added to all Playstation 3 users XMB (XrossMediaBar or just the main menu if you like)

Google Chrome is properly the first Google product that has come out of beta this fast. Yesterday Google announced that there web browser “Google Chrome” has gone into version 1.0.
Google Chrome is not out of beta cause it’s ready for the world, but be course Google wants to sign some deals with computer manufacturers like Dell that will preinstall the browser.
Google Chrome was released in beta just 100 days ago and already final. In my opinion Google Chrome still lacks a lot of the basic browser features such as, “new tab” button, print preview, feed viewing and lots of other basic features, but hopefully the team behind it is working hard on adding more features to Chrome.
Google Chrome is worth a try, but there is a long way to go before I would replace it with my default browser.

Mozilla Thunderbird 3 Beta is the first beta release of the next major version of Thunderbird. It is available for testing purposes only and is intended for developers and our testing community.
Thunderbird 3 Beta 1 is based on the Gecko 1.9.1 platform which has more than 10,000 updates including some major re-architecting to provide improved performance, stability, web compatibility, and code simplification and sustainability.

Firefox 3.1 Beta 2 is now available for download, and brings quite a lot of new features with it.
